Chantilly Medical Upholstery is a small locally owned business that provides upholstery services to Medical and Dental Offices and Fitness Centers in the Northern Virginia and Washington, DC Metro area.

OUR STORY

I grew up around my grandparents upholstery shop so I guess you could say upholstery runs in my blood. My grandfather was an automotive and furniture upholsterer and my grandmother was a factory seamstress worker who eventually became a tailor. Her claim to fame was sewing the costumes for the US Figure skating team in the 1972, 1976, 1980 and 1984 Olympics.

As a boy, I helped out in their shop. As I got older I began to take on my own upholstery projects for family, friends and neighbors. I eventually fell into reupholstering seats for heavy equipment, large trucks, and autos.

For the past 30 years I’ve specialized in small aircraft upholstery. Although I’ve always enjoyed working with fine leathers and building high-end interiors, as I’ve gotten older I’ve found climbing around in small airplanes requires a certain amount of flexibility I no longer possess.

My primary focus now is on medical and gym upholstery and I have to say I really enjoy working on-site in such positive environments. There seems to be a big need for this type of upholstery service since fewer and fewer young people are choosing upholstery as a career.

I still use my grandfather's shears and sewing machine that I inherited when he passed. He was a good grandfather and his tools often remind me of my days in his shop.

We offer on-site upholstery services as well as removal and installation of your items for upholstery services in our shop. We have a wide selections of vinyl fabrics to choose. We can find the perfect material to match your style and budget.

We specialize in upholstering physical therapy tables, gym equipment, medical exam tables, dental exam chairs and hospital beds.

We can perform ancillary repair and modifications to your furniture to put them in excellent condition and extend their useful life.

We work with all fabrics, vinyls and leathers.

I can supply and use all types of vinyls and leathers for your upholstery needs. Most vinyls are made with PVC components and some vinyls can be supplied free of PVC components.

There are antimicrobial vinyls, as well as medical grade and the usual commercial grade vinyls. The most commonly used brands of vinyls are Spirit Millennium, Esprit, Olympus, Challenger, Guardian, Classic and many other brands. Most physical exam tables are covered with Naugahyde Spirit Millennium, Royal Blue color. I can help you find the right fabric for your application.

If you need a high end leather, I can supply some of the nicest leather hides for your project. My time upholstering airplane interiors has given me the knowledge to choose the best hides for your project. I have relationships with leather suppliers that can easily understand the type of leather that I need for your project.
